What are barcode labels and where can I get them printed in Kenya?

A barcode label is a sticker printed with machine-readable data, such as lines, spaces or patterns, that links a physical item to a digital database. Businesses stick them on products before those products reach the point of sale, so items scan at the till and in stock systems. Print Lion prints these labels on sticker paper or waterproof material, laminated on request, and supplies them in rolls or sheets. Common sizes are 58 x 39 mm, 22 x 12 mm and 40 x 20 mm, and we can produce any other size you need. The price per sticker depends on the order quantity and the size. Labels are ready in two days once the artwork is correct and approved. Delivery to all counties in Kenya is available, and you can also collect from our office on Moi Avenue in Nairobi.

Clean printing built to scan

Barcodes are only useful if they read reliably at the till. We print your labels at quality that keeps the lines sharp, so your codes scan cleanly.

Ready in two days

Once your artwork is correct and approved, your labels are ready in two days. That keeps your products moving toward the point of sale without a long wait.

Paper or waterproof, rolls or sheets

Choose sticker paper for everyday products or waterproof material for items that face moisture, with lamination on request. We supply your labels in rolls or sheets to suit how you apply them.

Any size you need

Our common sizes are 58 x 39 mm, 22 x 12 mm and 40 x 20 mm, but we can produce any other size your products call for.

How to prepare your artwork for printing

  1. Accepted artwork files For finished barcode artwork we accept PDF, high-resolution TIFF, JPEG, PSD, and AI or other vector files. We do not accept Word, PowerPoint, Excel or Publisher files as artwork, nor Canva or Google Docs links. The Excel data sheet of barcode numbers is a separate matter and is accepted.
  2. Resolution and colour Artwork should be at least 150 DPI at final print size. Both CMYK and RGB are fine, though printed colour can look a little different from what you see on screen. If exact colour matters to you, ask us for a physical sample before the full run.
  3. Bleed and safe area Allow 2 mm of bleed beyond the trim edge. Keep your text and codes at least 3 mm inside the trim edge as a safe area, so nothing important gets cut off.
  4. Send and approve Send your files by email, WhatsApp or a shareable link. We send you a proof and only begin printing once you approve it.

Getting your artwork ready

You supply the barcode itself. Send us either the numbers on an Excel data sheet, or finished barcode artwork. The Excel data sheet of numbers is accepted, even though we do not accept Excel files as finished artwork.
