What is a SACCO savings passbook and how much does it cost in Kenya?

A savings passbook is a small booklet that a SACCO gives each member to record their own financial transactions. It records deposits, withdrawals, share capital and loan balances, mirroring the SACCO’s central accounts so the member has a portable, personal record. The booklet carries the member’s details, such as their name, address and unique account number, and the inside pages are ruled with columns for date, deposit, withdrawal and balance. The common size is A6 and the booklet is saddle stitched. Pricing starts from Ksh 20 per booklet and depends on size and quantity, with a minimum order of 100 booklets. Passbooks are ready in one to two days once artwork is correct and approved, with delivery available to all counties in Kenya or collection from our Nairobi office.

A personal record for every member

Each passbook holds the member's name, address and unique account number, plus a clear offline history of their shares and loan status. Members can check their deposits and balances any time, even without logging in to anything.

Ruled and ready to fill in

The inside pages are printed with columns for date, deposit, withdrawal and balance, so entries stay neat and easy to follow. The booklets are saddle stitched to hold together through regular use.

Numbered in order on request

Need each booklet numbered in sequence for your records? We can number them in order so your SACCO can track issued passbooks member by member.

Professional printing, quick turnaround

Your passbooks are printed to a clean, professional standard and ready in one to two days once artwork is approved. That means you can issue them to members without a long wait.

How to prepare your artwork for printing

  1. Supply the right file type Send your artwork as a PDF, high-resolution TIFF, JPEG, PSD, or AI or other vector file. We do not accept Word, PowerPoint, Excel or Publisher files, or Canva and Google Docs links, as these do not reliably hold fonts, colours and layout for print.
  2. Check resolution and colour Artwork should be at least 150 DPI at final print size. Both CMYK and RGB are fine. Printed colour can look different from what you see on screen, so ask for a physical sample first if exact colour matters to you.
  3. Set bleed and safe margins Allow 2 mm of bleed beyond the trim edge and keep any text at least 10 mm from the trim edge so nothing gets cut off.
  4. Lay out the pages correctly Send the full inside pages as a single PDF in page order. The cover may be supplied as a separate file.
  5. Send and approve your proof Send your files by email, WhatsApp or a shareable link. We send a proof for your approval, and printing starts only once you approve it.

Getting your artwork ready

You supply the print-ready artwork. Print Lion does not offer design, but if your file has a problem we cannot fix in-house, we can point you to a professional designer who can help.
